CM Collective Takes on NYC and Project Dance!

Last weekend, our CM Collective Team traveled to NYC! These dancers had the amazing experience of dancing with Project Dance NYC... which means they got to dance IN Times Square! What a special memory for these dancers to have!

Throughout the weekend, our CM Collective dancers joined dozens of other dancers in learning choreography, performing in Times Square, and even taking master classes at Ballet Hispanico. Through this experience of a lifetime, these dancers made new friends, learned valuable skills and technique to add to their repertoire, and showcased a few elements of their 2025-2026 Production: Once Upon a Screen right in the middle of Times Square!

We are so proud of our CM Collective, who took their skills to the Big Apple during their inaugural season - we can't wait to see what's next!

CM Dance Company Takes on NextStar Dance Competition: 4/18 - 4/19

Our CM Dance Company took the stage at NexStar on 4/18/26 and 4/19/26, and they absolutely SHINED up on that stage!! A few of our company dancers took their solos and a duo, which have been cleaned and polished all season, and SHOWED UP last weekend! We are SO proud of your hard work, and we can't wait to see the great things you accomplish the remainder of the season and beyond!

CM Dance Company Takes on Showstoppers!

This past weekend, our CM Dance Company attended their very first competition of the season: Showstoppers! Competing some of our amazing solos and duos, our team absolutely crushed it (or, as we like to also say, they ate and left no crumbs)!

CM Dance Showstopper Awards

Our dancers participated in the First Competition of the Season!

This past weekend, the CM Dance Competition Team competed locally at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center to participate in the Showstopper 2025 Regional Tour! This was our studio's first optional competition of the season.

Our dancers took home medals, trophies, and memories galore. For some of our dancers, this was their first competition and for many it was their first time performing as a soloist or in a duo as well. We are all extremely proud of their hard work and dedication in working on their competition pieces for the last six months (or more in several cases), in addition to their inclusivity, manners, and overall awesomeness throughout the three-day competition.

Our First Dance Convention of the 24/25 Season!

In our first dance convention of the season, our dancers has a day filled with dynamic, engaging classes, and an unmatched vibe! They loved all of the positive energy, amazing choreography, interactive technique sessions, and the encouraging atmosphere that Immerse Artist Experience (IAX) provides at their convention.

Students spent time in a variety of master classes with an incredible group of choreographers that included: Brianna Pavon, Cedric Botelho, Melissa Tannús, Olivia Alboher, Richard Elszy, Seth Stewart, and Solace (Faculty bios: https://iaxdance.com/faculty/ ). They explored tap, hip hop, musical theatre, jazz, contemporary, improv, and technique throughout the day.

Additionally, our dancers had the opportunity to be chosen for a variety of awards and scholarships based on their hard work throughout the day. Our very own Charlie was selected as a 25-26 IAX Elite and received a full scholarship for next year's convention with the ability to visit other cities on the convention tour and continue to train with the IAX Faculty ( https://iaxdance.com/scholarships/ ). It is a fantastic opportunity and we are so proud of Charlie for receiving such an honor!

Each month our dance teachers and Ms. Melissa will choose a dancer who exemplifies outstanding qualities during a given month. Many factors will be taken into consideration, these include, but are not limited too:

Dancers who strive for personal growth and show consistent effort.
Dancers who show positive behavior, dedication, improvement, or leadership.
Dancers who foster a supportive and encour aging environment among other dancers.

Tabitha takes on Turn it Up Nationals in Boston, Ma!!

There was never a doubt that our powerhouse mini was going to wow the audience and judges at the Boston Turn it Up National level competition this 4th of July! Over the week long experience, Tabitha took classes from amazing choreographers and learned a special dance for the Dance Battle on July 5th. Additionally, she competed both of her solos, as well as, participated in the National Dance Team for her age group.

Not only did Tabitha take home tons of memories to last her a lifetime at her first national competition representing CM Dance with her tap and musical theatre solos, she brought back several awards and recognitions. Keep reading to see her amazing accomplishments this week!

Kids Artistic Revue (KAR) was our final dance competition of our 2023-2024 dance season!

Our competition dance season is officially over, and we are eagerly preparing for the 2024-2025 dance season with auditions scheduled for May 18th, 2024 . We hope to see you there!

This season our dancers collectively participated in eight competitions in the Fredericksburg region (and beyond), and also had the opportunity to perform some of their pieces in local art festivals. We are eternally grateful for all your support this dance season and cannot wait to see what is in store for the next. Whether you made sure a dancer was ready to go on stage, drove or carried in props, brought snacks, cheered at the competition or while watching the livestream, helped fix costumes, ran home to retrieve forgotten items, let someone borrow a team jacket, carried the big heads, purchased from a fundraiser, or simply just shared a post on social media, it inspired each dancer to bring the artistry to life and it made all the difference. Dance for a Cause: Artists for Brighter Days

Dance Matrix & Company, the Fairy Godmother Project, & CM Dance...

On March 15th, 2024 four of our CM Dance students were invited to perform pieces at "Artists for BRIGHTER DAYS." It was an evening filled with talented performing artists from the Fredericksburg region that benefited the Fairy Godmother Project, which is a local nonprofit organization that supports families in Fredericksburg who are trying to cope with pediatric cancer.

Tylen and Kylah performed their self-choreographed contemporary duo "Footprints," Aubrey performed her contemporary solo "The Real Me," and Kahlan sang "I Have a Dream" at the invitation of Mrs. Beverly Mendez in the Dance Matrix & Company Emerging Artists Program. Ms. Beverly is the Founder and Artistic Director of Dance Matrix & Company, which hosted the event at the downtown Fredericksburg branch of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. Kahlan also performed with Dance Matrix & Company as Kyla, in their original piece titled "Quest of the Dream Warrior."

Each of our CM Dance students were grateful for an opportunity to not only dance, but dance for such a great cause. We hope to be invited to participate in the years to come!

CM Dance at YAGP Pittsburgh

Two of our amazing ballerinas competed in the Youth American Grand Prix regional competition at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.

February 9-11th, two of our CM Dance Team members competed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Youth American Grand Prix Regional competition. This is an international, ballet focused competition where dancers are not only showcasing their ability to perform classical variations such as Laurencia, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, Sleeping Beauty, and many more, but they are also auditioning for scholarships (and in some cases potential jobs) to partnered ballet schools and companies.

Over the weekend, dancers also are able to participate in a ballet and contemporary master class, taught by globally recognized experts in each style. This is the 25th year of the competition, and Lauren and Aubrey were so grateful to be a part of it! This was Lauren's first year competing at YAGP and while Aubrey competed last year in Pittsburgh as well, this was her first time competing as a soloist.

Both came home tired, but for all the good reasons. They left their hearts on the stage as they competed in the classical and contemporary portions for their respective age levels. We are very proud of their performances and cannot wait to see what they do next.

CM Dance has been inspiring, teaching, and leading children in the Fredericksburg region through their dance journeys for a decade! With this milestone, a beautiful rebrand was created, while still keeping the loving, family-oriented atmosphere that everyone has become to know and love. Same place, same vibe, same crazy, just a new look to match the growth CM Dance has had over the years.

As we update information and photos on the website, this section will serve as not only a way to share information with everyone about upcoming auditions, events, closing, etc. but also to showcase the hard work of all the amazing dancers that CM Dance has.
